Things to do in Sedona

Restaurants

The hotel itself, and especially the shopping center next to the hotel contains a few nice restaurants, a pub and a coffee place. There are several fast food places along Ridge Trail (the street of the hotel) in a distance of about half a mile, such as Taco Bell and Subway.

Sight-seeing after SoCG

We have generated a forum in which you can discuss with other SoCG participants possibilities to explore the area before or after the SoCG. This is password protected - the password will be send to you once you register, or by request.
In Sedona
If you stay around after SoCG, there is plenty of nature and scenery to see. In addition to hiking, you can ride a bicycle (you can rent them next to the hotel), have another jeep tour, or see Sedona from the air - there are light plane flights, and sometimes hot-air balloons. There are also plenty of galleries, and you can also make a vortex tour that will show the main vortexes in Sedona.
There is a way to enjoy many of the activities for very cheap or no cost, provided that you are willing to spend 2.5 hours visiting a time sharing facility. These facilities, commonly golf resorts, will show you the place, demonstrate carefully made videos, and explain to you why it is a great investment to buy an apartment/condo there that you can use for a few weeks a year. It might be a cheap way to get for example a free a hotel room that costs $120/night otherwise. Any tourist information center in town will provide many such offers. Try to look like somebody who can afford such an apartment/condo. By taking this offer, you are usually not obligated to do anything but visiting the facility.
Outside of Sedona
The other main attraction is of course the Grand Canyon. It is about 120 miles from Sedona --- 2.3 hours from the hotel. There are companies that would take you there from Sedona. Also recommended is the Petrified Forest --- 80 miles from Sedona. A closer ride is the Sunset Crater --- 15 miles from Sedona.
